내가 모든걸 잃어도 내 인기가 떨어져도
더 이상 노랠 못하고 다른 직업을 가져도
나라는 이유만으로 날 계속 사랑해 줄 수 있니

Even if I lose everything, even if my popularity drops
Even if I can’t sing anymore, even if I get a different job,
Can you keep loving me just for who I am?

Would/could you as a fan? Granted, you probably started liking a singer because of their music/musical color, but having become a fan, would you continue liking a singer just for who they are, even if they stopped singing?

It’s a hard question to ask and answer, because although a fan might confidently answer ‘Yes!,’ popularity and recognition are very fleeting; they may be there in good times, but in bad times (scandals) and over time (as male stars take hiatuses for the compulsory two-year military training), they quickly leave with the wind.

Asking these questions to yourself as a fan of any singer/celebrity is one thing; most people are not famous or constantly in the public eye, so they wouldn’t be able to relate as having fans. But still, would the people who love you now love you even if you were to take a big fall? Would they love you unconditionally, even if you were to make a grave mistake? Would they love you, even if you were to lose your talent/gifts or money or looks or charm (…etc)?

These questions can be interesting to think about and reflect on when evaluating your life and the people in it.

(Side note: I’m not quite sure why I put the song title first in the first #nowplaying that I did, seeing that I felt something was off already with just the second #nowplaying post. However, since this is the third #nowplaying post, I’ll do as I see fit, putting the artist before the song title.)
